Langford lived up to its slogan, “The Biggest Little Party in Northeast South Dakota,” as crowds gathered this past weekend for the annual Summer Fest. With events ranging from poker runs to tractor pulls, and a car show that drew vehicles from across the region, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
A highlight of the weekend was Vollie Ann Williams’ 90th Birthday Bash. More than 100 guests joined in the celebration.
The Golf Cart Poker Run attracted 60 participants and 28 UTVs, with three local hosts helping run the event. Adam, grandson of Bruce Loeb, claimed the top prize, and the Langford Fire Department was named the nonprofit beneficiary of the event’s proceeds.
The Texas Hold’em Tournament and saw 38 players compete. Wayne Wegleitner took home the winning title, and the Langford Community Foundation benefited from the event.
In a show of strength and teamwork, the Fittest Farmhand Competition featured four teams battling it out. Jacob Wegleitner and Arnold Louw were crowned the winning duo.
The Shriner’s Battle of the Bags bean bag tournament included 22 teams, with the top prize going to the Deutsch family.
Tractor pulling fans were treated to a showcase hosted by Cory Bremmon and the Brown County Old Time Tractor Pullers, drawing plenty of cheers.
