The Marshall County Commission met Tuesday morning. Highway Supt. Dustin Hofland reported that paving on Roy Lake Road is complete, though some remaining work—under the state’s oversight—still needs to be finished. The Commission approved an agreement with the state to split culvert costs on the project, with the state covering 75% and the county 25%. Three resolutions were signed to seek grant funding for preliminary engineering reports for future bridge projects, and a locate permit was approved for plumbing work at Fort Sisseton on behalf of the SD Game, Fish & Parks.
The board also heard the quarterly report from the county’s veterans service officer, entered executive sessions for legal and personnel matters, and accepted the resignation of part-time deputy treasurer Dede Taylor.
In zoning business, several building permits were approved, including for Eddy Kornelsen, Daniel Anderson, and Thomas Satrang in Lake Township—Satrang’s requiring a variance—and Smartlink on behalf of AT&T in Veblen Township. Zoning Director Erin Collins-Miles also presented the first reading of proposed zoning regulation revisions related to campground language. The Commission held its first reading of the ordinance during the regular meeting and a copy of the proposed changes is available in the zoning office.
The Commission also approved the purchase of a new laptop and docking station for the zoning office and authorized Collins-Miles, who also serves as E911 Director, to sign a contract for MSAG assistance previously discussed during budget sessions. Updates were provided on several permits and projects pending further action.
The meeting also included continued discussions on the county budget.
