JUNIOR JACKS SET FOR STATE

    The Britton 10U Red baseball team allowed just a total of two hits in earning a doubleheader sweep over Sisseton Black last week Tuesday.
    Last night Tuesday the 10U Red squad hosted Webster to wrap up regular season play.  The U10 Junior Jacks combined squad will compete in the state tournament in Webster this week.  Pool play will match the local nine against Groton at 11 a.m. and Parker at 1 p.m. Friday, and Britton will battle Mobridge at 9 a.m., Parkston at 1 p.m., and Canova at 3 p.m. Saturday.  Pool games will determine bracket play matchups on Sunday.  
    Mark Folkman and Tatum Deutsch each pitched two innings and combined for 11 strikeouts and a no-hitter in the 9-0 opening game win over Sisseton.  In game two four pitchers gave up just two Sisseton hits and struck out 14 in five innings in an 8-1 victory.  Britton did not commit an error in the two games.
    Corwyn Eye rapped two doubles and a single and collected three RBI’s to lead Britton’s nine-hit attack in game one.  Folkman added a pair of singles and two RBI’s, and Deutsch, Wynn Mattson, Ryker Guy, and Kandrick Jones laced safeties.  In game two Folkman and Mattson each had two singles and a pair of RBI’s, Eye and Oliver Suther doubled, and Guy added a base hit.
