MC COMMISSION PASSES ORDINANCES

MC COMMISSION PASSES ORDINANCES

The Marshall County Commission met Tuesday morning. The board approved second readings of three ordinances.
•    Ordinance 69: Establishes a $150 penalty for failing to report a controlled burn, unless a court appearance is required, and outlines conditions under which a burn ban is enacted.
•    Ordinance 70: Repeals Ordinance 5, which pertained to poor relief. Those services are now governed by the state welfare manual.
•    Ordinance 71: Repeals Ordinance 20 related to ag land classification requirements, which are now covered under state law.

In other agenda items, Larissa Heitmann gave the quarterly Extension update. The commission also met with the department head for budget planning purposes.

Addressing planning and zoning matters, the board approved a drainage request from Colby Olson in Dayton Township and a plat for Erickson’s 2nd Subdivision in Hickman Township. Building permits were approved for Wyatt Janisch in McKinley Township, SMJ International/John Knapek (Verizon Wireless) in Sisseton Township, Mark and Emily Hrabik in Lake Township (with a variance), and Buffalo Lake Ranch Inc./Tyler Hellwig in Buffalo Township.

Planning and Zoning Director, Erin Collins-Miles, noted updates to a portion of property around Buffalo Lake, where homes are being readdressed using GPS coordinates for more accurate location data. Notifications about the changes have already been sent to affected residents.

The next commission meeting is July 22.
