The Britton U10 Red baseball squad split a twin bill with Sisseton last week Tuesday, posting a walk-off 8-7 win in the opener and falling 15-9 in the nightcap.
Sisseton led 5-2 in the third inning of the first game but Britton rallied for four in the bottom of the third to lead 6-5. The visitors came right back to lead 7-6 in the top of the final frame but the local nine rallied for two in the bottom of the inning with Oliver Suther rapping the walk-off single. Wynn Mattson had two hits and a pair of RBI’s, Suther and Corven Schmieg each had a pair of safeties, and Tatum Deutsch, Mark Folkman, Ryker Guy, Corwyn Eye, and Gannon Peters each singled. Mattson picked up the pitching win in relief with he and starter Guy combining for seven strikeouts.
Sisseton scored five runs in each of the three innings in the nightcap to earn the split. Folkman led Britton with a pair of hits and three RBI’s. Deutsch, Suther, Schmieg, Kandrick Jones, and Peters each singled.
