U10 SPLITS SIX CONTESTS

    The Britton U10 baseball teams split six recent contests.
    The Junior Jacks split a twin bill with the Aberdeen Smittys last week Wednesday, battling back from an opening 16-3 loss to win an 18-17 slugfest in the nightcap.  The U10 Red ballclub swept Sisseton last week Tuesday 13-1 and 12-1 but dropped two to Groton last week Monday 12-10 and 5-4.
    This week the Junior Jacks will play in a Groton tournament on Saturday.  The Red squad is at Claremont on Monday and hosts Sisseton on Tuesday.

Aberdeen 16-17
    Aberdeen jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings of the opener and out-hit the locals 13-3.  Ryker Guy, Jase Stelzer, and Gage Beck came up with the Britton hits.
    The lead changed hands five times in game two before Britton scored a walk-off win, rallying from a 17-13 deficit in the final inning.  Guy laced a pair of singles, Mark Folkman tripled, Tyler Wurst doubled, and Beck, Hezi O’Brien, Archer Easthouse, Gannon Gefroh, and Wynn Mattson all singled.  Easthouse and Tatum Deutsch each collected three RBI’s and Weston Hastings picked up the pitching win in relief as four hurlers combined for 11 strikeouts.

Sisseton 1-1
    Britton used two five-run rallies to roll past Sisseton in game one.  Deutsch rapped a pair of singles, and Follkman, Gannon Peters, Corwyn Eye, and Mattson had safeties.  Guy was the winning pitcher.
    In the second game the local nine again used five and six-run explosions to earn the sweep.  Folkman led the way with a double, two singles, and three RBI’s.  Peters had a single and three runs knocked in, and Deutsch, Guy, Eye, and Mattson added base raps.  Kandrick Jones earned the pitching win and Eye had five strikeouts in two innings of relief.

    Groton broke an 8-8 tie with four runs in the top of the final inning of the opener and then weathered a Britton rally.  Peters had two singles, Deutsch doubled, and Guy and Mattson added safeties.
    In the second contest Groton led 5-2 after two innings and held on to earn the sweep as both teams managed just a single hit.  Deutsch singled for Britton.
