LOCAL U17 NINE NOW 7-3

    The Britton U17 squad added two more wins in the past week and now stands at 7-3 for the season.
    The local nine outscored Sisseton 16-11 on Monday and blanked Clear Lake 11-0 on Thursday.  This week the Lumberjacks have a busy schedule, hosting Clear Lake tonight (Wednesday) at 7:30 p.m., Thursday they travel to Groton, Saturday Platte is in town for a 7 p.m. matchup and Sunday the Jacks host Milbank at 11 a.m. and Aberdeen 18U at 7 p.m. as part of the Bring the Heat Classic, and Tuesday play at Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern.

    Britton trailed 6-5 halfway through the fourth inning but exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the frame to take charge.  Sisseton did cut the margin to 12-9 in the sixth but the local answered with four more tallies in the bottom of the inning.
    Will Richter led a 13-hit attack with three singles.  Bryce Hawkinson, Lincoln Kilker, and Dylan Redler each had a pair of safeties, Jace Rein doubled, and Mitchell Burger, Ben Suther, and Kaden Mills added base hits.  Rein picked up the pitching win in relief of Burger and four pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts.

Clear Lake 0
    Redler and Symens combined for a one-hitter and walked just two batters while fanning seven.  The local nine also took advantage of 11 walks and three Clear Lake errors while playing errorless ball in the field.
    Mills laced a pair of singles, and Lofton Heer, Hawkinson, Richter, Redler, and Symens each had safeties in the four-inning game called on the 10-run rule.
