The South Dakota American Legion Riders are excited to announce that their annual American Legion Ride 605, a fundraiser benefiting the South Dakota American Legion Foundation, will include a stop and ceremony in Britton. This four-day event, scheduled for June 7-10, brings together various American Legion Posts, Auxiliary Units, Sons of the American Legion Squadrons, and American Legion Riders Chapters with the core mission of supporting Veterans in need and providing funding for children and youth programs.
The group of approximately 15 riders will embark on a 240-mile journey on June 9th from Madison, with stops in Arlington, Lake Preston, Watertown, and Milbank before arriving in Britton. A ceremony will be held at approximately 6 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial west of town, where the Britton American Legion will be present to demonstrate their financial support of this program.
The American Legion Riders are known for their dedication to the veteran community, spending countless hours and miles as honor guards for “Honor Flights” and dignitaries, as well as serving with the Patriot Guard to protect the sanctity of military funerals. Their chapters are also widely recognized for their charitable work, having raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local children’s hospitals, schools, veterans’ homes, and other veterans’ needs.
Following the presentation in Britton, the group will proceed to the Mike Kraft home for a Veteran’s BBQ, which is open to all area Veterans and their families. Those interested in attending the BBQ are asked to RSVP to Rose Kraft at 605-448-8105 prior to June 7th.
Sixteen host Posts will present donations to the Foundation throughout the four-day event, and all individuals who would like to join in the ride are welcome.
For more information regarding the full itinerary of the ride, please contact Rose Kraft.
