TWO B-H GOLFERS QUALIFY

State Meet Monday, Tuesday
TWO B-H GOLFERS QUALIFY

Two Britton-Hecla golfers will be competing in the Class B state tournament on Monday and Tuesday after qualifying in Region 1B play in Watertown on Thursday.
The top two teams and top 40 percent of individuals in the regional field earned state berths.  Jace Rein was among the boys’ qualifiers and Sage Ford advanced in the girls division.  Langford Area also competed in the regional but did not have a golfer qualify for state.
The meet was moved from Cattail Crossing Golf Course in Watertown to Prairie Winds Golf Club, also in Watertown, due to the fact that the event was forced to reschedule due to weather and Cattail Crossing had another event scheduled.
Sites for the state meet are Cattail Crossing for the boys tourney and Prairie Winds for the girls competition.
“We had a couple more golfers really close to the cut line but had a tough time with a hole or two throughout the day,” said B-H coach Ryan Nack.  “We are proud of all the Britton-Hecla golfers that came out this year.  Our focus at the state meet will be on managing each area of the golf course to the best of our ability. Having composure while looking to enjoy the experience of state golf is a driving point I would like to keep in mind during this golf tournament.”
Clark-Willow Lake and Edmunds Central tied for team honors in the boys’ bracket to punch their tickets to Watertown, while Clark-Willow Lake and Faulkton Area were the top two girls teams.  B-H placed eighth in the 15-team boys field, while the girls finished fifth among eight squads.
Rein carded a 94 to lead the local linksters, good for 19th place.  Lofton Heer shot a 101 to finish 25th, Braun Kadoun was 31st with a 113, and Carter Grobe placed 38th at 119.
