POPPY POSTER WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

    Britton’s American Legion Auxiliary has announced the winners of the post’s 2025 Poppy Poster contest.
    In Class 1, Sadie Mills earned first place, followed by Roper Hansen in second and Paisley Thayer in third. Class 2 winners were Gianna Nordquist in first, Ella Mundt in second, and Sophia Erickson in third. In Class 3, Madalyn Gabriela Neri Mendoza took first, Ella Schuster placed second, and Jacey Melroe came in third. Class 4 honors went to Ruthie Moeckly in first, Amelia Ingvalson in second, and Linnea Satterlee in third. Class 5 winners were Adeline Piehl in first, Alexis Tonning in second, and Zoe Bennett in third. In Class 7, Kylie Hedges earned first place, with Liam Bower in second and Kaiden Mix in third.
    A total of 161 posters were submitted by Britton-Hecla students. First-place drawings will move on to compete at the state level, while other posters will be displayed in local stores and businesses in honor of Memorial Day.

Poll: END OR RETAIN EXPANDED MEDICAID COVERAGE? South Dakota voters will decide in November on a proposed constitutional amendment that would end the state’s expanded Medicaid coverage if the federal government’s share of funding for the expansion falls below 90%. The expansion, approved by voters in 2022, provides Medicaid eligibility to certain adults ages 19 to 64 with incomes up to the federal limit established by the constitutional amendment. The proposed amendment would remove that expanded coverage if the federal funding level drops below 90%. If the election were held today, how would you vote?
