The Langford Area track squad competed in the Lake Region Conference meet in Ipswich last week Tuesday and will wrap up its regular season this week with meets in Webster on Thursday and Warner on Friday.
The Warner meet was set for Monday but moved back due to weather. At the conclusion of regular season meets the top 24 individuals/teams in each event will qualify for the state meet in Sioux Falls May 29-31.
Currently Langford Area is among the top 24 in four events. Paytyn Marlow is 14th in the 100 dash (12.85) and 23rd in long jump (15-9). Emily Olson is 22nd in triple jump (32-1.5), and Julian Rodriguez 24th in the 110 hurdles (18.20). Caleb Mertz is on the bubble in the 110 hurdles, standing in the 27th spot.
The LA junior high squads also competed in the LRC meet and had several event winners in the girls division. Bailey Dwight was a triple winners, taking the 100 dash, 200 dash, and long jump titles. Sophia Rodriguez won both the 100 and 200 hurdles, Josie Jensen was the discus winner, and Zoey Moen was the triple jump champ.
