The Langford Area track squad competed in the Legion Relays in Sisseton on Friday.
Paytyn Marlow brought home a pair of individual second place finishes in the 100 and 200-meter dashes, was sixth in the long jump, and teamed up with Brooke Dwight, Emily Olson, and Lizzie Gustafson to place second in the 400-meter relay. Caleb Mertz led the LA boys with a third in the 300 hurdles and ran a leg on the seventh place 800 relay and eighth place 400 relay.
“It was a tough start to the day because of the cold temperatures and add in high winds,” said LA coach Brian Schuring. “The kids had to adjust their mental attitude to perform well. Our athletes did get better as the day went on, which was nice to see.”
Marlow currently holds down spots in the top 24 in Class B, ranking 16th in the 100 dash and tied for 24th in the long jump. At the conclusion of the regular season the top 24 in each event qualify for the state meet.
LA is back in action at Sisseton on Friday and will compete in the Lake Region Conference meet at Ipswich on Tuesday.
