The Britton-Hecla girls track squad placed fourth and the boys brought  home a sixth place finish at the Legion Relays held in Sisseton on Friday.
The local thinclads won titles in three events.  Dashel Davidson topped the field in the 100-meter dash and teamed up with Bryce Hawkinson, Mitchell Burger, and Daniel Person to win the 800 relay.  The quartet of Marley Sundin, Avalon Dinger, Elsa Bosse-Faulhaber, and Chellon Robinson won the 400 relay.
B-H had one relay team that competed in the Howard Wood Relays in Sioux Falls last weekend.  The foursome of Jack Teveldal, Drew Heitmann, Ben Suther, and Jaxon Zuehlke ran in the 3200 event.  Daniel Person is normally a member of the team but did not compete due to illness.
“We had a great meet at Sisseton,” said B-H coach Stephanie Symens.  “We brought home a lot of trophies, and the kids performed well. We had several kids get their personal and season records. They are dropping time and we have several that are in the top 24 for Class A.  The boys ran a solid time at Howard Wood, and it is always fun to be able to go and compete with the best within a four-state area.”
The local tracksters competed at Milbank yesterday (Tuesday), travel to Sisseton on Friday for a 1 p.m. start, and host the junior high and high school Eastern Coteau Conference meets on Tuesday beginning at 1 p.m.
Britton-Hecla currently ranks among the top 24 in five events.  At the conclusion of the regular season the top 24 in each event earn a spot in the state meet.  Among the current top 24 are Dashel Davidson in a seven-way tie for 13th in the 100 dash, the boys 3200 and 1600 relay teams that are 15th and 21st respectively, and Jaelee Grupe and Abby Lee that are 14th and 23rd in the high jump.
