Fourteen excited Sharpshooters from Marshall County’s BB Gun Club headed to the 4-H State Shoot in Pierre last weekend.
In the Beginners category, Tuf Hagen shot a 301 with three centers, Andrew Bolzer shot a 307 and 1, and Gage Beck shot a 310 with four centers. Rhyker Bender finished out with a 342 and three centers, taking 11th in the standing position in her age division. Lucas Knudson had a 350 with 13 centers, Faustina Rapkoch concluded with a 352 and 10 centers, and Ariana Crawford had a 368 and eight centers.
Teams at state consist of three shooters, and our Beginner Team included Lucas, Knudson, Tina Rapkcoh, and Ariana Crawford. They took fourth place with a total aggregate score of 1070 points and 31 center shots. In the prone position, Knudson took seventh with 95 and five centers. In sitting, Crawford took first with a score of 96 and five centers and Knudson was sixth with a 94 and three centers. In Kneeling, Knudson took fourth, shooting a 91 and four centers, and Crawford took fifth with a 91 and 0 centers. In their age category, Ariana Crawford took third, Tina Rapkoch 11th, and Lucas Knudson 15th.
In the Junior category Tinely Beck shot a 353 and six centers. Adalyn Kanizer had a 323 with 13 centers and had her best sitting score of the year with a 93 and two centers. Skylar Bender shot a 373 and 15 centers and had her best kneeling score of the season with a 95 and four centers. Rosalyn Rapkoch shot her best score of the year and finished with a 372 and 11 centers, taking eighth place in the kneeling position. The Crawford sisters made a showing with Alivia Crawford shooting a 376 with 17 centers and Amelia Crawford had a 376 and 18 centers. Amelia beat her sister by only one center shot. Jacey Melroe was the team’s top shooter at state with a 379 and 14 centers.
The Junior Team brought its best last weekend and took first place with an aggregate score of 1128 points and 46 center shots. In the prone position, Melroe took first with a 100 and six centers, and Crawford was third with 98 and seven centers. In the standing position, Bender took 10th with a 91 and two centers, and Melroe 11th with 91 and one center. In sitting, Melroe was sixth with a 97 and seven centers, and Crawford took eighth with the same 97 and seven centers.
In the kneeling position, Bender took sixth with a 95 and four centers. Melroe took third place in the division, Aliva Crawford was sixth, and Bender 13th.
Amelia Crawford was Marshall County’s our lone shooter in the Senior division. She took 10th place in her age group and was eighth in prone with a 97 and six centers, 14th in sitting with a 95 and five centers, and third in kneeling with a 97 and seven centers.
Among all ages of shooters Melroe took 7th place with her aggregate score and was first in prone and ninth in sitting. Alivia Crawford took was sixth in prone, Alivia Crawford 12th and Ariana Crawford 19th in sitting, and in the kneeling position Amelia Crawford was seventh, Bender 11th, and Rosalyn Rapkoch 14th.
Marshall County shooters will be competing in the Daisy National B Gun Tournament this summer.
