Sargent County 4-H’s Hippology club, Horsein’ Around, hosted their traditional “UnContest” for Hippology and Quiz Bowl on Sunday, March 1 at Sargent Central Public School. Youth from Foster, Grand Forks, Traill, Ransom and Sargent counties attended. The Mundt family from the Britton area also takes part in the club.
An “UnContest” is the same as a contest, but there is not scoring or awards, and participants received their answer sheets after the UnContest. Typically, during Quiz Bowl, contestants cannot view matches until their team has been eliminated from competition.
But, at the UnContest, all teams are welcome to be in the Quiz Room to hear and learn from the questions asked. This format allows youth, parents and coaches an opportunity to review and learn.

Poll: REGIONS FOR AMBULANCE SERVICE? A legislative task force is considering a plan to organize South Dakota’s ambulance services into eight to 14 regions, potentially with state oversight and funding to help keep emergency medical services sustainable. The proposal comes as many ambulance services face financial challenges, low reimbursement rates and an aging, often volunteer workforce. Lawmakers say the goal is to ensure an ambulance can respond when someone calls 911, but establishing the regions and determining how they would be funded could take years. Do you support creating regional ambulance service systems with state oversight and potential state funding?

Yes, regional systems could help ensure reliable ambulance service.

No, ambulance services should remain organized locally.

Unsure. I would need more information about how it would work.
