LIONS OPEN REGION 1B PLAY

    The Langford Area boys basketball team will wrap up its regular season schedule at Waverly-South Shore on Friday and then open Region 1B play on Monday.
    Coach Brian Schuring’s club, now 3-16, dropped decisions to Aberdeen Christian 83-51, Ipswich 69-41, and Highmore-Harrold in the Warner Classic 66-36 last week.
    Based on power point rankings through Monday games the 10th-seeded Lions would play at #7 Hitchcock-Tulare (6-13) and #8 Wilmot (6-14) would host #9 Tiospa Zina (2-16) in play-in games on Monday.
    Tuesday matchups would pair top-seeded Leola-Frederick (17-2) against the Wilmot-TZ winner, #2 Aberdeen Christian (14-4) would host the LA-HT winner, #3 Waubay-Summit (13-7) would host #6 Northwestern (8-11), and #4 Waverly-South Shore (11-8) would host #5 Warner (8-11).  Semifinal games are set for Friday, March 7, to determine SoDak 16 qualifiers.

    Aberdeen Christian boosted a five-point first period lead to 18 at halftime thanks to a 24-point second quarter and Langford Area was not able to cut into that deficit.
    AC’s Ethan Biel, who is normally a key reserve but started the game on Senior Night, pumped in 26 points on eight three-pointers to lead the Knights.  Kassen Keough notched 30 for the Lions, Jacob Samson added 11, and Conner Glines grabbed 11 rebounds.

    Ipswich built an 18-point halftime lead and added to that margin in the final two periods.
    Kassen Keough led the Lions with 24 points and five rebounds and Jacob Samson added 10 counters.

    Highmore-Harrold boosted a five-point first quarter advantage to 13 at halftime and added to that margin the rest of the way.
    Kassen Keough laced 18 points to pace the Lions and Conner Glines had six rebounds.
