KNEBEL SCHOLAR HONORED

On Jan. 30, LeRon Knebel and granddaughter Kayla Kirchmeier attended the Lake Area College scholarship banquet in Watertown. They presented a scholarship in memory of the late John Knebel of Eden. The scholarship is needs-based and was awarded to Laura Seifert of Fargo, ND, formerly of Milbank. Laura is in Lake Area’s Business, Marketing, and Management Program.
John Knebel was an Eden-Area farmer/rancher who gained a great knowledge of agriculture during his time at Lake Area in the early 1990s. He dedicated his life to bettering the community and environment around him. He served on many boards including the Marshall County Conservation Board. John always encouraged and assisted young farmers. He was tragically killed in a farm-related accident in August of 2018. His memory lives on in many ways, including the Lake Area College scholarship.

Poll: END OR RETAIN EXPANDED MEDICAID COVERAGE? South Dakota voters will decide in November on a proposed constitutional amendment that would end the state’s expanded Medicaid coverage if the federal government’s share of funding for the expansion falls below 90%. The expansion, approved by voters in 2022, provides Medicaid eligibility to certain adults ages 19 to 64 with incomes up to the federal limit established by the constitutional amendment. The proposed amendment would remove that expanded coverage if the federal funding level drops below 90%. If the election were held today, how would you vote?
