NARROW LOSS FOR LA GIRLS

Play Four Games In Next Week
NARROW LOSS FOR LA GIRLS

The Langford Area girls basketball team dropped a narrow 51-48 decision to Tiospa Zina on Friday to fall to 4-5 on the season.
Coach Michael Alberts’ club faces a hectic schedule in the upcoming week, hosting Waverly-South Shore on Thursday, traveling to Eureka to take on North Central on Saturday, hosting Tri-State on Monday, and playing at Warner on Tuesday.  The North Central and Tri-State contests are doubleheaders with the boys’ team.
Against Tiospa Zina the Lady Lions erased a three-point first period deficit and led 25-24 at halftime.  The Wambdi re-took a 38-37 lead after three stanzas and held on for the win.
“This was a good game for our girls,” said Alberts.  “We were able to have game experience of trying to work our way back at the end of the game. I thought the girls did a good job executing what we wanted to.  We just didn’t get our shot to fall and that’s just how it goes sometimes, but I think this experience could help us down the road. Defensively, we let their shooters get some open shots and we also let them get some easy looks around the basket. We did a good job creating shots for other girls and we rebounded well.”
Alex Darling led LA with 21 points, including four three-pointers.  Eliana Darling pulled down 16 rebounds and Lizzie Gustafson grabbed 13 and had five assists.

    LANGFORD AREA: Eliana Darling 3 2-4 8, Paytyn Marlow 2 1-2 6, Clarissa Guy 2 1-4 5, Mariah Tosse 1 0-0 2, Alex Darling 7 3-3 21, Lizzie Gustafson 3 0-0 6.  Totals 18-59 7-13 48.

Poll: TRUMP FIGHTS FOR HIS BIRTHDAY President Donald Trump recently hosted a UFC mixed martial arts event on the White House South Lawn as part of a celebration tied to his 80th birthday and the nation's upcoming 250th anniversary. Some people view it as no different than other entertainers and performers who have appeared at White House events under various presidents. Others believe a professional fighting event was not an appropriate use of the White House grounds. What do you think?
