SEVEN B-H MATMEN PLACE

Author: JaKelle Hardy

The Britton-Hecla wrestling squad served notice that it will be a force to be reckoned with this season by placing seven of 11 wrestlers in the season-opening tournament at Clark-Willow Lake on Saturday.
Two local matmen claimed championships.  Bryce Hawkinson earned top honors at 144 pounds and Tucker Hardy was the 215-pound champion.
Other Braves finishing in the top four included Jarrik Jones, second at 98; Ben Suther, second at 175; Henry Kilker, third at 98; Dashel Davidson, third at 165; and Lincoln Kilker, fourth at 106.
“The kids all showed up to wrestle and I was pleased with that being our first showing,” said B-H coach Josh Hawkinson.  “I knew these kids could wrestle.  We just had to get them in action and see how they held up against other wrestlers.”
The B-H grapplers were back in action last night Tuesday against Redfield and Clark-Willow Lake in Redfield and on Saturday travel to Faulkton for a tournament.
“We got some great looks at kids last weekend and found some things we need to work on,” noted Hawkinson.  “Just seeing them wrestle does wonders.  It will be a kid-by-kid scenario – just little things that we saw in matches that we can work on to fend things off if they ever happen again to us in a match.”

Poll: TRUMP FIGHTS FOR HIS BIRTHDAY President Donald Trump recently hosted a UFC mixed martial arts event on the White House South Lawn as part of a celebration tied to his 80th birthday and the nation's upcoming 250th anniversary. Some people view it as no different than other entertainers and performers who have appeared at White House events under various presidents. Others believe a professional fighting event was not an appropriate use of the White House grounds. What do you think?
