Langford Area held their annual Snow Queen contest this past Sunday. Senior and Junior candidates vied for the title of Langford Area Snow Queen and Junior Snow Queen.
Winning the title of Langford Area Junior Snow Queen was Adaline Larson, daughter of Jamie and Charley Larson, and crowned as Langford Area Snow Queen was Jordis Jenner, daughter of Ali Tonsfeldt and the late Jason Tonsfeldt.
Other senior queen candidates were Gianna Rodriguez, Morgan Ostlie, and Eliana Darling, and other junior candidates were Brooklyn West and Madison Bailey.
Last year’s Snow Queen Megan Gustafson and Junior Queen Emily Olson presided over the event.
During the night’s events, each candidate was introduced and had to answer a question for the judges. The Langford Area first grade class made up the Snow Queen Prince and Princesses. They were each asked a set of questions, one of them being ‘What do you think Mrs. Erickson wants for Christmas this year?’ Many of them answered with ‘A toy for her new baby!’
Before the judges made their final decision, Frosty was unveiled. This year Sara Olson guessed correctly that Frosty was in fact Scott Smith.
The new queens will reign for the year and attend State Snow Queen Festival held in Aberdeen. The South Dakota Junior Snow Queen will be crowned on Jan. 4 and the state Snow Queen will begin her reign on Jan. 11 with both events taking place at the Aberdeen Civic Theater.
New Langford Area Snow Queen Coordinator Alicia Bruns was happy with the festivities. “I am so proud of each and every one of the girls that participated in the Snow Queen Festival,” she said. “Some stepped way out of their comfort zones and overcame nerves and insecurities. I am so excited for the future of Langford Area Snow Queen.”
