LANGFORD AREA STARTS HUNT FOR PRINCIPAL

LANGFORD AREA STARTS HUNT FOR PRINCIPAL

The Langford Area School Board meeting on Monday morning ended with an executive session and the approval of the board to advertise for a principal position with teaching duties. Shad Storley is currently both the district’s superintendent and principal, plus the special education director. This was a trial arrangement to see if it was a load that could be handled by one person.
Storley explained that the workload is not viable for a single person and asked the board to consider hiring a principal. He also added that it would be advantageous if the new hire could assume certain teaching duties to help with a few classes. The board approved the idea and are now hiring for the position.
In other board business, Storley was approved as a volunteer coach for boys basketball.  Jenn Gustafson was chosen as the delegate assembly representative for the Associated School Boards of South Dakota (ASBSD). The group discussed the ASBSD’s legislative positions, including school vouchers, which Storley noted he is particularly keeping an eye on.
The group okayed moving forward in the search for a new school picture vendor. Storley explained they simply want to see if their current vendor, LifeTouch, is comparable to others out there. They approved paying students who have helped with the Live Ticket streaming sports service.
The next board meeting will be held Monday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.

Some people view it as no different than other entertainers and performers who have appeared at White House events under various presidents. Others believe a professional fighting event was not an appropriate use of the White House grounds. What do you think?
