BUSINESS OF THE MONTH: MUSKRAT FARM SUPPLY

Brothers Carry On Muskrat Tradition
BUSINESS OF THE MONTH: MUSKRAT FARM SUPPLY
Mitchell & Micah Samson (top center) took over Muskrat Farm Supply in Eden from their father Curtis a few years ago. Since then, the pair has worked together to grow the business and make it a hub for ag and fencing supplies, seed, chemicals and other farm necessities. The business, on Hwy 25, also employs Jennifer Sandal, Dan Poss and Kodie Green-Lugert.

If you are able to work together well with family members within a business, it can be a wonderful thing. In the case of two of the Samson brothers from Eden, it is almost as if they were made to work together. Micah and Mitchell Samson, twin brothers, have years of practice working together and as the owners and operators of Muskrat Farm Supply in Eden, they are continuing to make that partnership work.
The brothers are natives of Eden and graduated from Roslyn High School. After graduating, they both spent time at South Dakota State University before they moved on to Lake Area Tech. Micah obtained a degree in Energy Technology and Mitchell one in Building Trades. After completing their time at Lake Area, the pair moved on to different jobs in the Watertown and Brookings area.
Yet, they soon felt the call to return to the northeast part of the state. Back home, their father was running a successful business in Eden that piqued the twins’ interest. Their dad, Curtis, had purchased the old elevator owned by Leron Knebel. Knebel and his wife Jackie had bought the former Farmers Elevator Co-op in the 1990s after it dissolved and ran it as a feed store.
Curtis bought the business, located right on Highway 25 on the east side of Eden, in 2002. He continued with feed sales and added chemical services and his Pioneer seed sales to the business. The operation became Muskrat Farm Supply.

Poll: TRUMP FIGHTS FOR HIS BIRTHDAY President Donald Trump recently hosted a UFC mixed martial arts event on the White House South Lawn as part of a celebration tied to his 80th birthday and the nation's upcoming 250th anniversary. Some people view it as no different than other entertainers and performers who have appeared at White House events under various presidents. Others believe a professional fighting event was not an appropriate use of the White House grounds. What do you think?
