B-H SCHOOL BOARD TO ADOPT BUDGET, POLICIES MONDAY

The Britton Hecla Board of Education has a full agenda for their meeting on Monday at 6 p.m. The board will adopt the preliminary budget as official for the next school year and set the mill levy.
The levy is determined by the state. The levies are lower than the previous year at the following rates: $1.97 per $1,000 for ag land, $2.69 for owner-occupied houses and $5.44 for commercial properties. The special education rate will be $1.28 for all three classes.
The board will consider adopting several policies as part of a large policy update. The policies were written by the school law firm KSB and reviewed by a policy committee made up of board members. The proposed policies are available for review at the school during normal business hours.
Policy 6032 regarding the Selection and Review of Library Media will be an agenda item. The proposed policy outlines the procedures for selecting and reviewing materials included in the library.
Several of the proposed policies will be made available to the public at the Monday meeting as hard copies.
In other board business, bus requests will be considered for Groton and Langford. Activities handbooks will be approved. Bids will be accented for fuel and colony meals. Open enrollment applications will be considered. Meal prices will be set.
In personnel matters, teacher contracts and working agreements are on the agenda as are pay rates for sub bus drivers.
