COMMISSION APPROVES ADVERTISING FIRST PART OF COURTHOUSE BIDS

    At the Marshall County Commission meeting on Monday, the board approved to advertise for bid package one for the Courthouse Project which includes earthwork, utilities, concrete (building concrete, footings, foundations, slabs, toppings, floors, etc) Precast (wall panels, hollow core plank, caulking), paving.
    Dave Daberkow gave a quarterly Veterans Service Officer report. Daberkow stated that a request has been submitted to name a bridge south of Britton in honor of Bernard D Meeker who died in action in Belgium in World War II.  The board authorized the chair to sign a letter of support in favor of this dedication.  
    An approach permit for John Forman was approved pending inspection and approval by the Highway Supervisor.
    Dispatch approved various new hires- full-time-Becky Wade and Kevin Winter at $18.50/hour and Part-time-Jennifer Athey at $18.50/hour.
    Building permits were accepted from Dale M. Knebel - Lake Township, Timothy J. Tracy - Lake Township, Karen Christianson - Lake Township,  and Alan Halvorson - Lake Township.
    Planning & Zoning Director, Erin Collins-Miles informed the Board of the Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan kickoff meeting which took place on Monday.  Marshall County will be working with NECOG to update the plan prior to its expiration in the Spring. The Board was notified of a letter the Zoning Director received from the Department of Agricultural and Natural Resources pertaining to a non-compliant wastewater system that has been removed. The letter will be filed in the Zoning office, noting that wastewater systems are regulated at the State level and not by the County. The Zoning Director will provide more information on these updates as the information becomes available. 
    The board spent the remainder of the meeting working on the provisional budget.
