Britton Swim Club Third At State Meet

The Britton Swim Team placed third in the state meet held last weekend in Chamberlain. Team members in front left to right are Emersyn Eimers, Ayla Sasker, Zoey Block, Laken Tosse, Emsley Eimers, and Ariyah Sasker.     The Britton Swim Team brought home a third place trophy from the South Dakota Seasonal Championship Meet held in Chamberlain Friday through Sunday.
    Six local swimmers were also among the top individuals in the meet. Trey Atkinson was first in the boys 17 & Over division, Elijah Fox was second in boys 15-16, Tanner Atkinson fourth in boys 15-16, Aiden Strong fourth in boys 13-14, Emersyn Eimers fourth in girls 9-10, and Zoey Block fourth in girls 7-8.
    Chamberlain took the team title with 4388.5 points followed by Webster at 2275, Britton 932, Watertown Area 597, Miller 427.5, and Aberdeen 134.
    “Our swimmers did a tremendous job at the state meet,” said Coach Laken Werner. “We had less than half of our team participate in state, so to still pull off a third place finish was quite impressive. We even had a few kids adding some extra events in at the last minute to increase their individual points. It is always fun to see the kids strive to do better and push themselves.”
