U10 Softball Wins Final Three

The Britton U10 softball team finished its season on a good note, winning its final three contests.

The local squad came from behind in the final inning to down Claremont 5-4 last week Tuesday and swept a doubleheader from Groton last week Wednesday .

“We were happy with how the girls finished out their season,” said Coach Emily Taylor. “We saw some growth in the girls’ knowledge of the game. Our bats were a little slow, but we got the hits and runs when they counted.”

Taylor also wished to thank BJ Richter for all his work in getting the fields ready for practices and games.

“With all the rain we had this season, there is no doubt many extra hours were spent to get things prepared for us to play ball,” said Taylor.

Against Claremont Rosalyn Rapkoch, Sage Phillips, Olivia Effling, Ayla Sasker, Grace Folkman, and Gabby and Maggie Taylor all had hits.

In the opening game with Groton Jaelynn Heitmann doubled, and Phillips, Effling, Emarie Miller, Lenyx Jones, Emersyn Eimers, and Adalyn Kanizar all singled. Phillips, Heitmann, and Jones were on the mound.

Jacey Melroe tripled in the second game, Gabby Taylor doubled, and Rosalyn Rapkoch, Tinley Beck, Tina Rapkoch, Sasker, Folkman, Maggie Taylor, Laken Tosse, and Ariana Ortega-Tosh singled. Melroe, Gabby Taylor, and Rosalyn Rapkoch handled the mound duties.
