Shooters Make National Finals

Place 57th Out Of 261 Teams; Two Individuals Make Final Day

The Britton-Hecla Area Trapshooting Team advanced to the finals of the USA High School Clay Target League National Championship held in Mason, MI, last week, while two individuals also made the cut to shoot for top honors.

In Friday’s team competition Britton-Hecla placed 57th out of 261 teams with the top 80 squads moving on to the championship round on Sunday. The local shooters hit 468 of 500 targets in the finals to place 40th out of the top 80 teams.

In the first round team shooting Dylan Harmon and Camden Dinger led the way, breaking 98 of 100 targets. Isaac Jesz hit 95, Hunter Jensen 91, and Bridger Patterson 85. In the finals round Dinger and Jensen both hit 96, Harmon scored 95, Jesz 94, and Patterson 87.

In Saturday’s individual competition Harmon hit 98 of 100 targets, Dinger 96, Jesz 95, Jensen 93, and Patterson 89. Harmon’s total placed him 69th and Dinger was 313th. The top 400 out of 1,733 individuals qualified for the finals.

Harmon hit 97 of 100 targets in the finals round to place 124th, and Dinger broke 93 to finish in the 297th spot.
