Discussions Of Opt-Out Go On For LA Board

The Langford Area Board of Education met for their monthly meeting on Monday. In staffing matters, the board approved contracts for Superintendent/principal Shad Storley, Business Manager Addison Olson and Lora Gibbs, as the new Hutterite colony teacher.
The board once again discussed a possible opt-out as new demands on school budgets have led to concerns. A committee of board members has been established and will continue to research the opt out issue. “We want to look at how we ended the school year and then look at next year’s budget,” said Storley. “We will keep putting this matter on the agenda because we want to be open and transparent with this conversation.” The committee may decide to schedule community meetings in the future regarding the topic.
The 2024-45 Capital Outlay projects were discussed, as was the five-year plan. Storley noted that until the playground project is paid for, they do not plan to tackle anything big.  The board approved the renewal of property and liability insurance. No changes were anticipated in the Return to Learn plan.
The next meeting is scheduled for July 15 at 7 a.m.

Some people view it as no different than other entertainers and performers who have appeared at White House events under various presidents. Others believe a professional fighting event was not an appropriate use of the White House grounds. What do you think?
