24th Edition Of Harvey Thayer Tourney

    A total of 24 two-person teams competed in the 24th annual Harvey Thayer Memorial Fishing Tournament at Roy Lake on Saturday and Sunday.
    Jerod Hudelson and Landon Thayer teamed up to take top honors, catching 47.10 pounds of fish over the two days to nudge Josh and Parker Phillips with a 46.14 total.  John and Chris Eye took third with 41.18 pounds, Tim and Traci Olson were fourth at 39.14, and Boston Marlow and Cody Blanchard finished fifth with a 38.02 total.
    Marlow caught the biggest fish of the tournament with a 7.04-pound walleye on Sunday.  Josh Phillips hauled in the largest walleye on Saturday at 6.08 pounds, Paul Thayer caught the largest northern at 6.80 pounds, and Rich Smith had the biggest bass, weighing in at 3.14 pounds.
    In addition to Marlow’s walleye, the biggest fish on Sunday were caught by Josh Phillips, 5.14-pound northern; and Shayla Carlson, 5.08-pound bass.
    “It was a great tournament and we had great weather,” said Scott Thayer, son of the late Harvey Thayer who headed up the tournament this year.  “Craig Teveldal and my father started this tournament 24 years ago and when Dad was not able to do it anymore Craig ran it.  Now that I am taking over the Thayer Family would like to give a special thanks to Craig for all he did to keep the tournament going.”
