Board Spots Open In LA, B-H

Both area school boards are now accepting petitions for people interested in running for the local boards of education.
At Langford Area, the three-year terms of both Jennifer Gustafson and Cory Cole are expiring. Circulation of nominating petitions has begun, and they may be filed in the office of Business Manager Addison Olson at the school between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. not later than May 10 at 5:00 p.m. or mailed by registered mail by May 10.
One board seat at Britton-Hecla will be up for grabs with the three-year term of Mandy Carlson expiring. Nominating petitions can now be picked up at the Britton-Hecla Business Office. Completed petitions must be filed with the business manager by end-of-day on May 10.
If seats are contested in either school district, elections will be held on June 18. The 3-year terms will begin in July.

Poll: END OR RETAIN EXPANDED MEDICAID COVERAGE? South Dakota voters will decide in November on a proposed constitutional amendment that would end the state’s expanded Medicaid coverage if the federal government’s share of funding for the expansion falls below 90%. The expansion, approved by voters in 2022, provides Medicaid eligibility to certain adults ages 19 to 64 with incomes up to the federal limit established by the constitutional amendment. The proposed amendment would remove that expanded coverage if the federal funding level drops below 90%. If the election were held today, how would you vote?
