Knecht First Runner Up At Snow Queen

The Britton Area Junior Snow Queen represented herself very well this past weekend at the State Snow Festival in Aberdeen. The local queen, Mataya Knecht, was named the First Runner Up in the pageant. Knecht is the daughter of Troy and Katrina Knecht of Houghton. She is a freshman at Britton-Hecla High School. She was crowned as the Britton Area Junior Snow Queen in November. As the first runner up, Knecht would assume the role as state Junior Snow Queen if the winner is unable to fulfill her reign.
Langford Area’s representative at the festival was Emily Olson. Olson is the daughter of Sara and Nathan Olson.
The state Junior Snow Queen crown went to Miss Northwestern’s Chesnie Helm. Others in the royal court included  2nd Runner-Up, Kaidence Bulgin {Miss Bowdle} and Miss Congeniality, Isabelle Mikkelsen. The  2024 Snow Queen Prince and Princess were Jax Jeschke and Kylee Green.
Britton Area Senior Snow Queen Jayden Bender and Langford Area Queen Megan Gustafson will compete in the State Festival in Aberdeen on Saturday. The event will take place at the Aberdeen Civic Theater at 7 p.m.
