Area Interpers Qualfier For State

    The Britton-Hecla oral interpretation team qualified four entries to the State Oral Interpretation Festival in Harrisburg Dec. 1 and 2. Senior Brynlee Patterson will move on in both storytelling and non-original oratory.  Juniors Oliver Moeckly and Jerod Nebrida qualified their duet along with sophomore Paisley Bray in the poetry category. 
    The other three entries were named alternates at the Region 4B Contest on Monday. Alternates include Emily Effling in serious, Braydon Casey in humorous, and Moeckly, Nebrida, Casey, and Carter Chapin in readers theatre. 
    Langford Area interper Daniel Jesz will also advance to the state contest in the humorous division with his piece “Sun Dazed.” Jesz will perform at the state competition on Dec. 1.

Poll: END OR RETAIN EXPANDED MEDICAID COVERAGE? South Dakota voters will decide in November on a proposed constitutional amendment that would end the state’s expanded Medicaid coverage if the federal government’s share of funding for the expansion falls below 90%. The expansion, approved by voters in 2022, provides Medicaid eligibility to certain adults ages 19 to 64 with incomes up to the federal limit established by the constitutional amendment. The proposed amendment would remove that expanded coverage if the federal funding level drops below 90%. If the election were held today, how would you vote?
