Gustafson, Olson Crowned Langford Queens

An impressive group of young ladies took the stage at the Langford Area Snow Queen Festival on Sunday. The event, sponsored by the Langford Lioness Club, saw Megan Gustafson crowned as Snow Queen while freshman Emily Olson will reign as the new Junior Snow Queen.

The new Snow Queen is the daughter of Jennifer and Joe Gustafson. Megan was the only senior candidate this year.

Junior Snow Queen winner Emily Olson is the daughter of Sara and Nathan Olson. Lizzie Gustafson was named the first runner-up. Other freshmen girls who participated included Brooke Dwight, Brynn Samson and Caroline Bahr

Last year’s Langford Area Junior Snow Queen Grace Hatfield was onstage, presiding over the festivities, as was the 2022 Langford Area Senior Snow Queen Jennaka Nelson.

Following Sunday’s festivities, Megan will be able to compete at the State competition in Aberdeen on Saturday, Jan. 13, while Olson can take part in the State Junior Snow Queen contest on Jan. 6.

Several first graders also took to the stage as the event’s Princes and Princesses. Princes included Weston Deutsch and Landon Alberts. The Princesses were Clara Okroi, Paxtyn Cole, Lillian Pleinis, Mara McMurphy, and Scarlett Holler.

The event featured some fun entertainment including Lillian Olson singing Rascal Flatts’ “God Bless the Broken Road.” Frosty was unveiled during the Snow Queen Festival as well. Suzi Larson was this year’s Frosty. Jeremy Hatfield correctly guessed Larson’s identity and won $10.
