Norman Clarence Krause was born March 30, 1954 in Marshall County, SD to Clarence D. and Talena M. (Malpert) Krause. He attended his schooling in Hecla and graduated from Hecla High School in 1972. After graduation he began farming west of Hecla. In 1979 Norman married Cathy Dinger and from that union came two daughters, Katrina and Kami. They made their home on the farm in Hecla.

In 1988 he moved to Sioux Falls, SD and began working in road construction. He was a foreman for a road reclaimer construction crew with a company out of St. Paul, MN. After working road construction for 20+ years, he moved back to Hecla in the early 2000’s. While living back home he worked for various farmers.

He had a voice and laugh that filled the room as he visited and shared stories. His daughters and grandchildren were his pride and joy. There was never a visit or phone call that he didn’t tell them how much he loved them and how proud he was of each of them. He enjoyed watching the history channel and old western movies. Over the years he became known for showing up with his famous apple crisp.
