B-H Grads Celebrate Moment

Britton-Hecla Superintendent Steve Benson urged the 31 graduating seniors to enjoy the excitement of the day at the school’s commencement ceremony on Sunday afternoon.

“Work through obstacles,” urged Benson. “Face challenges and don’t let them knock you off your chosen path. Be determined to succeed.”

Senior class officers gave the commencement address titled “We Grew Up” and recalled memories of the Class of 2023. Officers included President Maggie Kilker, Vice-President Will Schuller, and Secretary-Treasurer Alyssa James.

High School Principal Carrie James announced honor students, and Board of Education members Kurt Zuehlke and Audrey Schuller presented diplomas.

Members of the Britton High School Class of 1973 were in attendance and recognized on the 50th anniversary of their graduation.

The Britton-Hecla Concert Band played the processional and recessional and performed, “Wyndham Variations.” The Senior Class sang, “Home.”

Twenty-three students were recognized for Honors. Earning a GPA of 4.0 or higher and wearing a gold cord and honor medallion were Alyssa James, Ashton Mills, Dyl Nebrida, Gage Storley, Luke Storley, Erika Symens, Wyatt Tosse, and McKaelyn Zuehlke. Highest Honor students with 3.7 or higher GPAs were Cassidy Biel, BoDell Davidson, Dale Fisher, Aaron Idt, Maggie Kilker, Aiden Lee, William Schuller, and Kaylie Trevithick. High Honor students with 3.5 and above GPAs included Tynan Bennett, Ashlyn Casey, and Katee Freeman. Honor students with 3.0 and above GPAs were Landon Carlson, Ellie Feldhaus, Nevaeh Jones, and Regan Ringkob.

The escorts for the Senior Class were the top-ranked juniors that included Jayden Bender, Kaitlyn Folkman, Kaegan Fredrickson, Emma Kraft, Tiyanna Schott, and Addison Wade. Sophomore Class Ushers were Sterling Brassfield, Dashel Davidson, Mallory Grupe, Oliver Moeckly, Daniel Person, and Heather Storbakken.

The class motto for this year’s graduating class was, “‘We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other.” Class colors were red and white, and the class flower a red alstroemeria.

Members of the Class of 2023 include Jordan Andrews, Tynan Bennett, Cassidy Biel, Hunter Borgen, Landon Carlson,Ashlyn Casey, BoDell Davidson, Ellie Feldhaus, Dale Fischer, Katee Freeman, Elizabeth Gray, James Hoops, Aaron Idt, Alyssa James, Elijah Jensen, Nevaeh Jones, Riley Jones, Maggie Kilker, Aiden Lee, Haden Malpert, Tucker Mertens, Ashton Mills, Dyl Nebrida, Regan Ringkob, William Schuller, Gage Storley, Luke Storley, Erika Symens, Wyatt Tosse, Kaylie Trevithick and McKaelyn Zuehlke.

Britton-Hecla’s final day of classes was last Thursday.
