KEVIN C. JONES
*SERVICE CHANGE* The memorial service for Kevin C. Jones will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Fort Sisseton State Park, South Barracks. (No state park passes required.) The service is postponed due to a family emergency.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church in Britton and at 6:00 p.m. there will be a prayer service and a time for sharing.
Kevin Curtis Jones was born November 24, 1961, in Britton, SD to Hugh “Curtis” and Mavis (Carlson) Jones. He attended school in Britton and graduated from Britton High School in 1980. Farming was instilled in him from the moment he could walk and remained his life’s work until his passing. He farmed the same land his whole life.
In 1985 he married Susan Monroe and they raised three boys, Craig, KC and Codie. Farming was a big portion of Kevin’s life, but he was just as involved in the community and within organizations. He belonged to the Presbyterian Church of Britton where he served as an Elder. He was also a long-time board member of the Britton Country Club, held many roles in the Waverly Township, served as the district 3 commissioner, was on the RoyView Golf Course Board, where he worked hard the last few years to keep it going, and involved in various investment clubs.
Kevin loved the outdoors, whether that meant hunting, fishing, enjoying a round of golf, or campfires with Susie. He enjoyed afternoon drives with his 4-legged companions to check the cattle and fields, stopping to chat with anyone along the way. He also enjoyed bowling and attending sporting events, especially the ones his boys and more recently, grandchildren played in. His family was extremely important to him, and he cherished moments spent together. Kevin was a friend to many, and always had a welcoming smile – often with an Old Milwaukee in hand and a good conversation to be shared.
He is survived by his wife, Susie; his sons and their families: Craig Jones (Nicole) and his children, Mason (Harmony), Koryn, Jarrik, Camden, Carter, Maxton, and Xander; KC (DaRae) Jones and their children, Lenyx, Kandrick and Merit; and Codie (Elizabeth) Jones and their children, Carter, Crue, Maddie and Nash; his mother, Mavis Jones; and his siblings: Vicki (Dennis) Beck, Val (Marty) Jensen and Kirk (Kristi) Jones. Many nieces, nephews, and an amazing group of friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Curtis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to RoyView Golf Course and the Britton-Hecla Boosters would be appreciated.
