The Britton-Hecla girls golf squad won its season opener and the boys team placed third in a meet held at the Britton Country Club last week Tuesday.
Britton-Hecla’s Luke Storley stretched to pass the baton to Webster on Friday. B-H will be at Sisseton on Friday before BoDell Davidson on the final leg of the 800-meter relay at hosting the NEC meet next week Thursday.
Langford Area’s Jesse Keough led for most of the 1600-meter event in Webster on Friday, lost the lead with 200 meters to go, and then came up with a big kick to win the race.

The Britton-Hecla and Langford Area track squads managed to compete in a pair of meets during the past week.
Mother Nature has not been kind to the Britton-Hecla and Langford Area golf squads this spring, but the teams finally teed it up on Tuesday.
In the future the South Dakota High School Activities Association may seek some consistency in the way that the state’s golfers qualify for state tournaments. That suggestion was made Wednesday as SDHSAA board members approved the annual changes to the organization’s athletic handbook.
The Britton-Hecla track squad finally opened its season on Thursday at the Redfield Relays after having several meets cancelled due to cold and wet weather conditions.
