LA Girls Advance To SoDak 16
The Langford Area girls basketball team will be seeking the school’s first berth in the Class B state tournament in 30 years on Thursday.
Coach Michael’s Alberts’s crew defeated Great Plains Lutheran 49-17 and Northwestern 51-33 to earn the right to play Irene-Wakonda at the Huron Arena at 6 p.m. Thursday for a state tournament spot. The Lady Lions stand at 19-3 on the year and are the sixth seed in the tournament. Irene-Wakonda is the 11th seed and stands at 16-6.
“Irene-Wakonda has some really good, quick guards,” noted Alberts. “They are good shooters but also like to get into the lane. We are going to have to do a good job on the defensive end and try to slow their girls down. Offensively, we are going to have to take care of the ball and take good shots.”
