B-H Netters Post ‘W’

The Britton-Hecla volleyball team put an end to nearly two years of frustration on Thursday.

Coach Emily Hrabik’s squad swept Iroquois-Doland 25-14, 25-22, 25-13 to end a 44-match losing streak that dated back to the 2018 season. This week the Lady Braves, now 1-11, play at Milbank on Saturday with only parents of team members allowed to attend due to COVID-19. Tuesday Aberdeen Christian comes to town with a junior high match set for 4:45 p.m., the junior varsity match at 6:30 p.m., and the varsity to follow.

“The girls worked so hard to get this win,” said Hrabik. “They played great all around. Our back row stayed consistent with our passes, Chloe Furman had some great sets, and Gabi Burchill led us with eight kills. McKaelyn Zuehlke, Ella Burchill, and Kadence Haug all had a solid four kills as well. We controlled each set with aggressive serving that our opponent had trouble receiving. I am so happy the girls were able to grab this win!”
