TERRY ELLESTAD

Terry Ellestad, 63 of Gwinner, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND, with his family at his side. A private family service is being planned for a later date. The Price Funeral Chapel of Britton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Terry Lee Ellestad was born on June 4, 1955, in Britton, to Derwood Louis and Ethel Mae (Marlow) Ellestad of Havana, ND. He received his early years of education in Havana and completed his schooling at Sargent Central in Forman, ND. After graduating from high school, Terry worked as a security guard at the Bobcat plant in Gwinner for a few years.

In 1977, Terry enlisted in the U. S. Army and served until 1980. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Terry continued his military service to our country as a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. He worked as a helicopter parts supplier and did a tour of duty in Iraq. It was there that he was injured by an explosion that caused him to suffer with traumatic brain injury the rest of his life. He remained in Pennsylvania until moving to Gwinner in September of 2018.

Terry was always very sports minded and had participated in most sports during his high school years. He loved coaching his kids in baseball and boxing. For a period of time, Terry helped to train boxers for the U. S. Olympic Team. In his later years, Terry found great pleasure in keeping up with his grandchildren’s activities.

Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Terilyn Ellestad of Gwinner, ND, and Karac Ellestad of Lebanon, PA; eight grandchildren; his father, Derwood Ellestad of Havana, ND; his siblings, Darlene (Dean) Colbert of West Fargo, ND, Timothy Ellestad of Havana, Darrell Ellestad of Havana, and Debra (Jake) Sorenson of West Fargo.

Preceding him in death were his mother and a brother, Todd Ellestad.

Condolences may be directed to the family in care of Darlene Colbert, 2824 5th St. W., Unit B, West Fargo, ND 58078.
