TAMARA LAINE WEGLEITNER
Claremont, SD: Tamara Laine Wegleitner, 62, died on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at her home in Claremont after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m. Friday, July 10th at the Claremont United Methodist Church. Due to COVID19 concerns and the attendance of individuals with medical problems, the family requests that masks be worn by those attending the visitation.
Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the Honker’s Ball Field adjacent to the Claremont United Methodist Church. Rev. Rodney Ulmer will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens of Aberdeen under the direction of the Price Funeral Chapel of Britton.
Tam was born on October 19, 1957 in Britton, SD to Rodney and FrancElaine (Heinz) Barnes of Claremont, SD. She attended Huffton country school and Claremont School through the eighth grade. She then attended Langford High School, where she graduated in 1975. While in high school in 1973, she started dating the love of her life, Ronald Wegleitner. They were homecoming king and queen their senior year of high school. After graduation, Tam attended Northern State University for a year before she and Ron moved to Wisconsin, where they helped manage a familyowned Burger King.
On October 29, 1977 she was united in marriage with Ron. They moved back to the farm in Claremont, SD in 1978 and have resided in the area since that time. Together, they had three children: Justin, Gabriel, and Nicholas.
Through the years Tam volunteered her time with many organizations in the community. These included teaching Sunday School and Bible School and participating in the United Methodist Women group at her church. She also helped to organize the Lake Region Pheasant Restoration Banquet and participated in numerous school activities while her children grew up.
Tam had a love for her family, traveling, Christmas, shopping, ballgames, and her favorite sports teams, the Minnesota Twins and Vikings and NDSU Bison. Her family and friends will most remember her giving nature, laughter, smiles, and concern for others even while facing her own trials. Her enduring optimism encouraged those around her to become better individuals and will provide a source of hope for those now grieving her loss.
Grateful for having shared Tamara’s life are her husband, Ronald Wegleitner; her children: Justin (Jen) Wegleitner, Gabriel Wegleitner, Nicholas Wegleitner; and her granddaughter: Autumn Wegleitner.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Rodney and FrancElaine Barnes.
