The funeral for Kenneth T. Olson was held on Monday, May 13, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Langford. Rev. Dr. Ramona Hayes officiated. Interment was in the Hillside Cemetery of Langford under the direction of the Price Funeral Chapel of Britton.

Kenneth passed away on Wednesday May 8, 2019, after a short stay at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton, with family by his side at the age of 95. Kenneth had lived at home on the farm until his final days.

Kenneth Thorval Olson was born on August 14, 1923, in Langford to Hans and Ida (Stave) Olson. He attended school in Langford and after completing his education, went to work with his dad on the family farm. For a time he also sold a variety of new cars from his yard on the farm.

On October 9, 1949, he married Mavis Ruth Berger at Butler Lutheran Church in Butler, SD. Together they farmed and raised their five children. Kenneth was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Langford where he had been baptized and confirmed. He also sang in the church choir for many years. Kenneth was truly a farmer at heart, and maintained his active participation well into his eighties. As he grew older, Kenneth took great delight in his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, all of whom he adored.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of nearly 70 years, Mavis Olson of Langford; their five children, Allan (Deb) Olson of Mitchell, Elroy (Debbie) Olson of Pierpont, Joan Olson of Lakeland, FL, Leon (Brenda) Olson of Sioux Falls, and Ron (Brenda) Olson of Lincoln, NE; 13 grandchildren, Karisa (Christopher) Hart, Erin Olson, Mark (Geneva) Olson, Camille (Ross) Woltjer, Nathan (Sara) Olson, Alicia (Al) Helbig, Tyler Barnes, Mitchell (Heather) Barnes, Matthew Olson, Jared Olson, Amanda (Duke) Knoll, Michael (Jaime) Olson, Michelle Olson; 26 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Merle Berger; and a number of nieces, nephews, and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Violet and Oren Ausland and Alvira and Palmer Quamen.
