Geraldine Jones Engnes, age 101, formerly of Veblen, died on October 1, 2018. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Sunrise Senior Living in Edina, MN.

Funeral Service is being held on Saturday, October 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Veblen. Visitation will precede the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Palestine Cemetery, rural Veblen.

She was born Geraldine Mae Olson on January 10, 1917, in Rutland, ND, to Daniel and Ethel (Farley) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed at Nordland Lutheran Church in Rutland, attended grade school in Rutland and high school in Delamere, ND. As a young girl she babysat and waitressed.

Geraldine married Gordon Jones of Wyndmere, ND, on May 8, 1936. They farmed and Geraldine cooked at the local school for many years. They had one child, Carol Lenore Jones. They attended Delamere Lutheran Church where Geraldine held many church positions and was a Sunday school teacher. After the death of Gordon in 1960, Geraldine move to Forman, ND, and worked at Sargent Manor Health Care Center.

On September 19, 1970, Geraldine married Ruben Engnes and they lived on his farm near Veblen. They liked to fish and attend auctions. In 1990 they moved into Veblen. Ruben passed away in 1993. Geraldine continued to live in Veblen pursuing her hobbies: baking, crafts, quilting, reading, and watching Twins baseball. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where she belonged to Hope Circle, and was a member of Veblen Senior Citizens. In 2007, she moved to Bloomington, MN, to be near her daughter and other family members.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Carol (husband John Brunzell), granddaughters Susan (husband Dick Kimmel) and Barb (husband Joe Jenniges), nine greatgrandchildren, and four greatgreat-grandchildren.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her father and mother, two husbands, and three brothers (Orville Olson, Harold Olson, and Edward Olson), three grandchildren (Mary Jo Armengol and Lisa and Glen Jensen), one nephew (Steve Olson), and numerous nieces and nephews.
