Britton, SD: Longtime Britton area farmer, Calvin Quamen, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Marshall County Healthcare Center at the age of 75.
His family is planning a celebration of life in the spring or early summer of 2021. His arrangements have been entrusted to the Price Funeral Chapel of Britton and will be announced when they are finalized.
Calvin L. Quamen was born June 27, 1945 in Britton, SD to Norman and Lenora (Bosse) Quamen. He grew up on the farm by Kidder and graduated from the Kidder public school. He attended college at SDSU where he graduated with honors receiving a degree in Agriculture and took pre-vet classes.
After college he returned to the farm and farmed with his dad and two of his uncles.
He enjoyed having coffee with family and friends many times a week. He always enjoyed children and had a Pepsi or coffee for anyone that visited. Family was important to him and enjoyed get togethers.
Calvin was a life-long member of the Britton St. John’s Lutheran church where he was baptized and confirmed. He also served on various church boards as well as being a youth leader. Calvin served on the White Township as the board supervisor for 30 plus years.
Calvin had many interests such as his Hereford cattle, dogs and all sports. He played baseball and softball several years growing up and on a men’s league in Britton. He also was very interested in science and kept up with changes. He loved country music.
Grateful for having shared his life are his many friends, neighbors and relatives.
He was proceeded in death by his parents.
