The funeral for Ann Bailey was held on Tuesday, October 30, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hecla with Pastor Jay Haaland officiating. Interment will be in the Detroit Cemetery of rural Hecla under the direction of the Price Funeral Chapel of Britton.

Ann passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Marshall County Healthcare Center in Britton at the age of 83.

Anna Marie Felix was born on June 28, 1935, in Aberdeen, to Frank and Carrie (Stephen) Felix. She grew up in Columbia, where she attended school. After completing her education, Ann worked as a home health care provider for area families.

On September 6, 1953, Ann was united in marriage with Ray Lee Bailey. They moved to Nebraska where they lived for a few years. They returned to Marshall County, and lived in Britton and Kidder before moving to Claremont in November of 1978. While living in Kidder, Ann helped to care for Rose Atkinson. After moving to Claremont, Ann was one of the founding workers for Dakotah Quilts, and worked at their Langford and Pierpont plants. Ray passed away on May 5, 2002, and Ann continued to make her home in Claremont.

Ann’s hands were always busy with craft projects and painting. She loved to sew and had done many plastic canvas projects. All of the youngsters who she knew had received one of her sock monkeys! Every year, each of her grandchildren could count on Grandma to come through with a homemade Christmas ornament.

Perhaps even more than her love of crafts was her pride in her family. Her eyes would sparkle with delight as she told about each of them. Of particular pride was the military service of grandsons Brandon and Lee.

Ann is survived by two daughters, Bonita (Richard) Edwards of Hecla and Susie (Dennis) Anderson of New Haven, MI; four grandchildren, Carla (Quentin) Fixen, Brandon (Jessica) Casey, Cassandra Loebs, Jamie Walton; six great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Jim Walton; a brother, Frank (Doris) Felix of Aberdeen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a daughter, Carrie Walton; a grandson, Lee Loebs; a sonin-law, Tim Loebs; and 12 siblings, Steve Felix, Lanora Freudenthal, Wendall Felix, John Felix, Henry Felix, Monica Eastburn, Tony Zahn, Louis Zahn, Andrew Felix, Mary Webb, Mike Felix, and Amelia Slaight.

Condolences may be directed to the family in care of Bonita Edwards, 301 Main St., Hecla, SD 57446.
