July Fourth Fun

The weather was a little breezy Sunday afternoon but the south side of the lake was just right to catch the annual Clear Lake Boat Parade. There were six entries in the parade this year. Wet Spring, But Crops Good

The Sam and Amanda Nordquist family stand in their cornfield west of Lake City on the Fourth of July. The whole family is pictured, with Sam holding Lucy and Claire, Gianna in the middle, and Amanda holding newborn baby, Kate. The corn was more than knee high and looked impressive. Sam commented, “Things look pretty good considering the crop was mudded in and we really didn’t get any rain in June.”

Despite the fact the most crops got a late start due to the soggy spring, experts think things are looking pretty good at this point. The rains over the past weekend also provided some much needed moisture for area farmers.

Passing It On At B-H And LA

Trevor Zuehlke and his team made a visit to Britton-Hecla school before summer break. On behalf of Zuehlke’s organization Pass It On #for Trevor, students were given the book “I Promise” by LeBron James. Trevor also stopped by the classes and gave out cookies. Mrs. Sasker’s Kindergarten class is pictured here during Trevor’s visit.

The Zuehlkes and Pass It On #for Trevor also visited Langford Area school and gave them the book. Kurt Zuehlke, Trevor’s dad, read the book to the class as they enjoyed cookies.

Students at Britton-Hecla and Langford Area schools were sent on their way before summer with a special gift and a positive message. The organization Pass It On #for - Trevor handed out a book to kindergarten students at both schools.

Music Students Kick Up Their Heels in Nashville

The Britton-Hecla music students traveled to Nashville a few weeks ago. The students get a chance to take a major trip every four years with Nashville being the destination the last two times. They visited various points of interest during the fourday stay. Here, the group is pictured on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in downtown Nashville. B-H students kicked up their heels during the Nashville trip at the Wildhorse Saloon. Many in the group enjoyed trying a little line dancing. They also visited the Ryman Auditorium that day.

B-H Music Students Travel to Nashville

The Britton-Hecla music students got a fun opportunity a couple of weeks ago when they traveled to Music City. The band and choir students hopped aboard a few chartered buses and headed for Nashville. The group takes the trip every four years.
