Mike Atkinson stood in his cornfield about five miles northwest of Britton that was planted May 5, and this corn certainly far surpassed the old “knee high by the Fourth of July” measuring stick. He said the corn crop is his best at this stage of the growing season in his 15 years of farming but rain will be needed soon. Atkinson expressed his thanks to his grandpa Bob Carlson and hired man Luke Landreth for all their help in his farming venture.
