Ryan Thibert of Britton tossed a bag in the Shriners’ Bean Bag Tourney at Langford’s Summer Fest last weekend, kids played volleyball in the Park of the Pines, and Madelynn Knebel was one of the TREPS Youth Entrepreneurs selling her tasty treats from her “Sweet & Sassy” booth. A good crowd attended the three-day event.

The Marshall County area received some needed rain Friday night but along with it came strong winds. This tree at the corner of 12th Avenue and Sixth Street in Britton was one of the casualties, boats and docks received some damage at area lakes, and some farmers had corn fields that suffered wind damage.

Mother Nature dropped the temperature just a bit and area residents enjoyed a variety of activities at the annual Langford Summer Fest and Alumni Weekend Friday through Sunday.

Shooting For Moon

Teams with NASA and contractor Jacobs lift the Space Launch System (SLS) core stage. The SLS will be used on missions to return to the moon and journey to Mars. Wayne Jermstad, the son of Britton native Shirley (Hagen) Jermstad, is a NASA senior executive working on those missions, fulfilling a childhood dream.
