Storm Drops Heavy Snow

10.5 Inches In Britton

Marshall County residents were digging out after a significant winter storm that hit the area Wednesday night and continued into the early morning hours on Friday.

Doug Oelkers Records of Britton measured 10.5 inches of snow on Wednesday and Thursday. The white stuff had a moisture content of .80 inches. Just a trace of snow also fell on Dec. 22 and 23.

Marshall County offices were closed on Thursday due to the storm and many businesses closed early on Thursday when conditions worsened.

Area residents also had to endure wind chills well below zero while digging out on Friday.

Langford Area’s boys and girls basketball teams were scheduled to compete in the Big Bo Classic in Wolsey on Friday, but that event was cancelled.

This was a common sight around Journal Country on Friday morning following a winter storm that left nearly a foot of snow around the region. David Deutsch of Britton was snowblowing his driveway before he tackled a drift covering the front steps.
