Residents Lose Hair In Support
Over 80 area youth and adults shaved their heads last week Wednesday in support of two local boys battling severe burns from a recent accident and resulting fire.
“Ashton Mills came up with the idea and a few of us parents ran with it,” said Kelsi Heer of Britton. “The baseball and football teams wanted to do this to show support but the idea snowballed with many other wanting to show their support as well.”
Jodi Kraft, Dani Dahme, Meranda Buer, Tyler Bush and the Britton-Hecla football team donated their time to buzz cut at least 80 heads - boys, girls, men and women ages 1-60+ participated.
Lacey and Dan Small organized the food with Ken’s Food Fair, NexGen, Marshall County Healthcare Center, Snapper’s Dry Bean and a slew of moms donating items so the kids and adults could eat. The Britton Event Center also donated the use of the facility for the cause.
Banners were available for each boy that anyone could sign. The banners were sent to the boys’ hospital rooms at The Burn Center at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
